3-Develop a Daily Routine:

A well-planned daily routine is essential for teachers because it brings structure, efficiency, and order to the classroom. When students are familiar with the routine, they are more likely to follow procedures and engage in positive behavior.

4-Make a List of Reading Prompts:

Create at least 5 reading prompts for each standard. For example, Readers ask questions. Create a summary activity or a 5W activity. Prepare Graphic Organizers according to the skills you will teach and the reading prompt you will cover.

5- Prepare Reading Folders:

Prepare reading folders, including individual anchor charts, rubrics, and instructions. Create a plan for using the folders, make the copies needed, and have them ready to begin teaching.

6-Set Up Reading Centers Ahead of Time:

Make a list of the centers you want to include in your centers. Create an area in the classroom for the tubs. Label them (Reading, writing, phonics, grammar) or with topics of your choice—place Bingo games, spelling activities, writing topics, and more. You can change them by quarter or trimester.

7- Establish a Reading Library:

At the end of the school year, my students organize the library for the upcoming year's students. They leave notes of encouragement and advice in the books. It's a great activity for the current class to close the school year, and it will prepare my library for the next school year.

8-Prepare Differentiated Reading Tasks:

Create differentiated tasks to create a familiar routine and encourage independent work.

Some Reading Tasks:

  1. Reading materials at different levels of difficulty.

  2. Graphic organizers for visualizing and organizing information.

  3. Vocabulary support with word lists and context clues.

  4. Text annotation options for active reading.

  5. Various reading response options (e.g., writing summaries, creating visual representations).

9-Prepare Reading Anchor Charts:

Create a least for anchor chart for each standard. Let a family or friend's child color and design it for you. One of my nephew and nieces' activities during the summer to help me get my classroom ready.
