📖 Activate Prior Knowledge with Illustrations
Picture books allow readers to analyze the story using background knowledge. Before reading the picture book, activate students' prior knowledge by asking them questions about the book. It will help them connect to their experiences and better understand the text. Looking at the illustrations provides clues, allowing them to use their background knowledge and understanding to interpret the story.

Use the pictures in the book to help students understand the text. Encourage them to make connections between the text and the illustrations. It will help students visualize the characters, settings, and events. In addition, this is an opportunity for students to connect to their own lives and experiences.

📖 StellaLuna
I believe in the power of picture books and the opportunity they provide our students to explore the world. StellaLuna and Perfect are my favorite books. I read them to my middle schoolers at the beginning of the school year. They fell in love with them, and since that day, picture books have become our daily activity during closing circles.
